Having graduated from Mechanical Engineering Department of Gaziantep Engineering Faculty, Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1992, Prof. Türkay Dereli started to work as an Assistant Professor (Dr. Lecturer) in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Gaziantep University in 1998 after completing his post-graduate studies. Having received the title of Associate Professor in 2002, Prof. Türkay Dereli was appointed as Professor in 2007. He took charge in industrial and current research projects, and national and international conference organizations. He worked for the establishment of the first innovation centre and informatics and rapid prototyping laboratories in Gaziantep in Turkey. His numerous original articles, papers and books have been published. According to Web of Science records; more than 70 of his works have been published in SCI/SCI-E/SSCI indexed journals, and his h-index number is 22. Prof. Türkay Dereli’s publications have received around 1500 citations. According to Google Scholar records, the number of his h-index is 30, and the number of citations given is over 3000. Having scientific studies on the application of artificial intelligence, especially in production systems, Prof. Türkay Dereli’s studies in recent years have started to focus on ‘Technology and Society’. Prof. Türkay Dereli worked as the Vice Rector responsible for Science, Industry and Technology policies at Gaziantep University between 2012-2015 and as the Founding Rector of İskenderun Technical University (İSTE) between 2015-2020. Prof. Türkay Dereli was appointed as the Rector of Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) on September 24, 2020.
